THE EFFECT OF WORK ETHIC AND WORK MOTIVATION ON EMPLOYEE PERFORMANCE (CASE STUDY AT THE YOUTH AND SPORTS SERVICE OF EAST JAVA PROVINCE)

Abstract

(Purpose) This study aims to analyze the influence of work ethic and work motivation on the performance of state civil servants (ASN) with the research object being the Youth and Sports Service (DISPORA) of East Java Province. (Methods) The data collection method in this study used a closed-ended questionnaire with a 5-point Likert scale. The collected data will be analyzed using SPSS with multiple linear regression. The population in this study is all active employees working at the Youth and Sports Agency (Dispora) of East Java Province, both civil servants (PNS) and non-PNS employees (contract/honorary). The sampling method used in this study is saturated sampling (total sampling). (Results) The results of this study show that (1) work ethic has a significant influence on employee performance, (2) work motivation also has a significant influence on employee performance, and (3) both variables simultaneously contribute to improving performance. (Implications) Thus, this research makes an important contribution both academically and practically in the development of human resource management in the public sector.
