The Influence of Leadership Style and Compensation on Employee Performance with Work Engagement as an Intervening Variable in the Nataan Village Office, Ratahan District, Southeast Minahasa Regency

Abstract

This research aims to determine the influence of leadership style and compensation on employee performance with work engagement as an intervening variable. The type of research is quantitative research. The research population was 44 employees who worked at the Nataan Village Office, Ratahan District, Southeast Minahasa Regency. The sampling technique used a saturated sampling technique, so that the research sample was all employees at the Nataan Village Office, Ratahan District, Southeast Minahasa Regency. Data collection was carried out using research instruments. Data analysis techniques use linear regression, t test and Sobel test. Based on the results of the t test, it shows that leadership style has a significant effect on employee performance with a significance value of 0.005, which is smaller than 0.05. Leadership style has a significant effect on work engagement with a significance value of 0.000, which is less than 0.05. Compensation has a significant effect on employee performance with a significance value of 0.001, which is smaller than 0.05. Compensation has a significant effect on work engagement with a significance value of 0.008, which is smaller than 0.05. Work engagement has a significant effect on employee performance with a significance value of 0.001, which is less than 0.05. The results of the Sobel test show that work engagement does not mediate the influence of leadership style on employee performance with a significance value of 0.247 which is greater than 0.05. Work engagement does not mediate the effect of compensation on employee performance with a significance value of 0.319 which is greater than 0.05.
