THE EFFECT OF COMPENSATION AND PROMOTION ON PERFORMANCE THROUGH JOB SATISFACTION OF EMPLOYEES AT THE SIDOARJO CUSTOMS AND EXCISE SERVICES OFFICE

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine and analyze the effect of compensation and promotion on performance through job satisfaction of employees at the Sidoarjo Customs and Excise Service Office. This study was quantitative, using census sampling techniques to obtain a sample of 140 employees. The results showed that compensation had a positive and significant effect on performance, with a CR value of 4.4870345 and a probability value of 0.0027  0.05. Job Promotion has a positive and significant effect with a CR value of 3.8363071 and a probability value of 0.0031  0.05 on Performance. Job Satisfaction has a positive and significant effect with a CR value of 5.3672591 and a probability value of 0.0033  0.05 on Performance. Compensation has a positive and significant effect with a CR value of 2.2640831 and a probability value of 0.000  0.05 on Job Satisfaction. Job Promotion has a positive and insignificant effect with a CR value of 4.8225211 and a probability value of 0.000  0.05 on Job Satisfaction. The results of the calculation of research data conducted using the Sobel Test can be proven that Compensation has a positive and significant effect with a CR value of 5.0653 and a probability value of 0.000  0.05 on Performance through Job Satisfaction. The results of the research data calculations conducted using the Sobel Test demonstrated that Job Promotion had a positive and significant effect, with a CR value of 5.465 and a probability value of 0.000  0.05, on Performance through Job Satisfaction at the Sidoarjo Customs and Excise Supervision and Service Office.
