Exploring Competency-Based Human Resource Development Through Transformational Leadership in Indonesian Manufacturing Sector

Abstract
(Purpose) This research aims to explore the impact of transformational leadership style on employee competency development at PT Trufindo Asta Mandiri, a manufacturing company in Surabaya. The urgency of this study lies in the importance of competency development in facing competitive market challenges. The research problem formulations are: 1) How do employees experience competency development under the transformational leadership style at PT Trufindo Asta Mandiri? 2) What are the competency development strategies for employees at PT Trufindo Asta Mandiri to advance the company? (Methods) The method used is qualitative research with in- depth interviews, observations, and documentation. (Results) The research results show that transformational leadership style, through the indicators of idealized influence, inspirational motivation, intellectual stimulation, and individualized consideration, significantly contributes to the development of employee competencies, although there are challenges in integrating training with field practices. (Implications) In conclusion, effective competency development requires ongoing support and integration between training and application in daily work. This research also suggests further studies to test the generalization of the findings in other sectors
