Abstract
This study aims to analyze the effect of Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) implementation on the competence and performance of employees in the Maintenance Division of PT Tjiwi Kimia Tbk. The approach used is quantitative with explanatory research method and path analysis using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) based on Partial Least Squares (PLS). The sample in this study was 50 maintenance division employees taken by total sampling. Data collection was carried out through a closed questionnaire with a Likert scale. The results showed that TPM implementation had a positive and significant effect on employee competence (β = 0.672; p < 0.001) and employee performance (β = 0.430; p < 0.001). In addition, employee competence also had a significant effect on performance (β = 0.581; p < 0.001). Competence was proven to act as a partial mediating variable between TPM and performance. The validity and reliability of the instrument have been met with Average Variance Extracted (AVE) values > 0.5 and Composite Reliability > 0.7 for all constructs. The implication of this finding is that structured TPM implementation not only has a technical impact on equipment but also strategically improves human resource quality and work productivity. Companies are advised to integrate training and competency development programs as part of their TPM policies to optimize implementation results
