Peer Review Process
Peer Review Process
Review is an objective process carried out to ensure that only quality manuscripts will be published. ICEBEMA implements blind review, where the reviewer’s name will not be known to the author of the manuscript during the review process. The selection of reviewer members is based on the expertise and field of study of the reviewer according to the manuscript. Reviewers are not given the responsibility to correct the contents of the manuscript and the language or grammar of the manuscript. One manuscript will be reviewed by two reviewers. The stages of the review process according to the image above are as follows:
1. Author registers and submits the manuscript
2. Editor will assess whether the manuscript is accepted or rejected
3. Editor assigns section editor
4. Section editor selects and assigns reviewers
5. Reviewers provide assessment and recommendation whether the article is suitable for publication
6. Section editor selects proofreader
7. Proofreader assesses and asks author to make improvements
8. Proofreader submits manuscript to section editor
9. Section editor checks and submits manuscript to Editor
10. Editor performs final editing
11. Editor publishes manuscript
Journal editor or editorial board considers feedback given by peer reviewers and makes decision. The following are the most common decisions:
1. Accept without any changes (acceptance): The editor will publish the manuscript in its original form
2. Accept with minor revisions (acceptance): The editor will publish the paper and ask the author to make minor corrections
3. Accept after major revisions (conditional acceptance): The editor will publish the paper provided the author makes the changes suggested by the reviewers and/or editor/section editor
4. Revise and resubmit (conditional rejection): The editor is willing to reconsider the paper in another decision-making round after the author makes major changes
5. Reject the paper (outright rejection): The editor will not publish the paper or reconsider it even if the author makes major revisions
Note: Review takes 4-8 weeks. If desired, reviewers can request a re-review after the author has revised the article. The decision to accept or reject the article is the responsibility of the Chief Editor based on the recommendations of the reviewers.
